It smells gently, and its view always catches the eye. Properly nurtured is a real decoration that does not require many complicated treatments. When is the best planting date?

When and where is the best planting? The deadline is fast approaching

Forsycja is best planted on two dates: early spring or at the end of summer. In March, it is worth making it before the appearance of flowers, which will allow the plant to solidly root the warmer days before the arrival. Thanks to this, in the next season it will delight with abundant flowering. August and September is an equally good time to plant, provided that we prevent buds to be tied up. Young planted at the end of summer, it is worth protecting with straw or agrotextile for the winter.

Regardless of the date chosen, Forsythia should be planted in a well -sunny place. Although it will also cope in a slight partial shade, the rays of the sun affect lush flowering. The plant looks great as a single decoration on the lawn or discount, but also works as part of the flowering hedge.

ADVICE! If you plant forsythia individually, take care of about a meter of free space around it to grow. When planting in a row, the bushes should be placed every 50 cm so that they can create a dense wall over time.

What requirements does Forsycja have? Care her and will grow healthy

Although it does not require complicated treatments, like every bush has its own needs. If you take care of the right conditions, it will repay every year with abundant flowering, brightening the garden with golden flowers.

  • Fertile and moderately moist soil with a pH of 6.9-7.7. Too sandy substrate can cause the leaves wilting, and too compact leads to rotting roots.
  • Regular and balanced watering. Young bushes should be irrigated every 2-3 days. Older, well -rooted plants will cope without additional watering. The exception is a long period of drought.
  • Spring fertilization of forsythia has a positive effect on the roots. It is best to use a conditioner rich in phosphorus, potassium and a small amount of nitrogen. It supports buds and improves the resistance of the bush.
  • Mulching. The plant has a shallow root system that easily loses water. Mulch from pine bark or straw helps to keep moisture, protects the roots from frost and limits the growth of weeds that weaken it.
  • Pruning. We perform the procedure right after flowering, shortening last year’s shoots by a third. Dry and damaged branches should also be removed.
