Evie Riski from Northern Dakota has had its evening ritual for nine decades. Just before bedtime, he reaches for a notebook and writes what happened last day. The woman turned 100 last month and since Dad instilled in her a passion for running a diary, she didn’t miss a single day. To this day, he remembers how she received her first notebook on January 1, 1936. Washington Post described her story.
The first sentence she wrote in the diary
“Today there was a grandmother with us. This morning Clarence came from Aunt Alma,” she wrote in her first journal. Then on the cards of the next notebooks she described her school love, the birth of children and the death of the men. She did not make exceptions. Every day she grabbed the pen and poured her thoughts into the next cards. There are dozens of recorded notebooks in her apartment. He has a special dresser on them.
Thanks to this, the past has no secrets from her. He can remember every life event. For example, he mentions that He knows exactly when electricity appeared in their family home. “It was 1944. I was terribly happy about it,” he emphasizes.
“Writing does not take much time. This is a great habit. Maybe ninety years is a long time, but I’m happy to do it” – he says.
