The Pole played in the hit of Netflix from Cameron Diaz. He says what he saw: “She had three assistants”

“Again in action”, i.e. a spy comedy from Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx in the main roles, is No. 1 Netflix of the last few weeks. Polish actor Robert Besta played in the film, who has been playing in Germany for years. Here he played the role of Balthazar Gora mafiosis from Eastern Europe. In an interview with the editors of the culture of Gazeta.pl, he told how he looked like his co -employed with Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx and explained that the confusion related to the language, which in production, was given to the Złoczyńcy.

In mid -January the comedy “Back in Action” debuted at Netfliks. As Variety informed, production within three days after the premiere was reproduced by service users up to 46.8 million times.

The film follows the fate of CIA agents who fall in love and then decide to fake their death. For over a decade they run a peaceful life in the suburbs with two children: teenage Alice and a few -year -old Leo. When their image is accidentally made public on the web, former agents become the target of enemies from the past who follow them in pursuit.

Justyna Krakowiak: How did you get to the American production of Netflix? Did the German film market somehow help you in this?

Robert Besta: People working on this film came to my agency from Berlin. They asked if he could record Self-Tape at home (editor’s note at Casting) scenes from Cameron Diaz. They were looking for someone who speaks Polish or Russian, but also in Englishbecause at the beginning they did not know exactly what languages they would record these scenes. I even recorded a few in French.

I asked a friend who is also an actress for help in recording the stage. She talked about Cameron Diaz and I was my role. A few days later I got a positive answer from the filmmakers, but I still had to wait for what Netflix will say. They also agreed. In fact, this one casting I recorded at home was enough to get a role.

How long is one scene with Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz, which in the film lasts 2 minutes?

In Germany and probably in Poland it is so that we make 7-8 minutes of film a day. Then we are on the set from morning to evening. In the case of this production, the creators wanted me to come to London and Atlanta five days earlier. I was in place, let’s give it 20 (editor’s note the day of the month), and they (editor’s note) told me: “We will shoot 22 or 23, but tomorrow you will come to the trial fittings of the costumes.” Later, we shot this one scene all day, so We had a lot of time for everything. It looked completely different than in Germany or Poland. They just had a larger budget for it.

What is the work of Hollywood actors? Have you seen something special with them: some rituals, ways to relax before entering the set or specific behaviors?

I met Cameron and Jamie before entering the set. There were hands hugs and a nice greeting. We talked about various things with Cameron: About politics, winemaking, about where I come from and so on. The fact that we met earlier was great, because when we were filming the scenes we already knew each other and our work was much easier. Cameron has always been accompanied by three assistantswho took care of her wardrobe, makeup and meals. She talked to them all the time, showed them some videos on the web. Jamie was differenthe was an executive producer, so He went to the tent after each stagewhere there were producers and watched the recorded scenes. He was still on the run.

“Again in the action” is a film dedicated to an international audience, but Polish viewers noticed some inaccuracy in it, namely that your figure, despite Belarusian origin, communicates in Polish. Did you wonder why it is so?

We shot the first scene with Cameron and Jamie at the party at Balthazar Gora in two language versions: in English and French. Manufacturers wanted the agents to talk to him in French because they were active under the cover, But ultimately they decided to leave English dialogues in the film.

Before we shot scenes with my conversations with mafia members, I asked producers in which language they want to record them. I suggested that I would learn dialogues in Russian because of the origin of the rolebut they asked me to speak Czech. Of course, I agreed, but I added that I also speak Polish. They decided that this language suits them too. In this way different languages were created.

If you look at the original version, everyone in the film says differently. It’s a nice mishmash because Some fragments were in Polish and some were in Russian. I was also surprised that someone else said my dialogues in the German version. It’s a bit strange, considering that I live in Germany and speak smoothly in German.

The end of the film suggests that we can expect the second part “again in action”. After experience from working on the first part, would you consider playing in the second?

Of course, I would be happy if my hero appeared in the second part, but I don’t know anything about it yet. I would definitely agree because I work great in such a team and such production.

In connection with the performance in the movie with Cameron Diaz and Jam Foxx, the filmmakers have already demanded about you? Do you have any specific Polish production in which you would like to play?

For now I participate in castings for one project in Englandbut this is nothing certain yet. I would like to play in some Polish production someday, it would be a good opportunity to train the language, but I haven’t got such a proposal yet. A lot of people spoke to me in connection with the premiere of the film that they saw him or wanted to talk about him, but it was nothing specific.

“Again in action” you can watch on Netflix from January 17. We invite you to participate in the poll and commenting.
