A city in China opens a database to help match singles

Luanzhou, a town of 520,000 people, has designated three locations in the city to establish “singles markets.”

The authorities of Luanzhou, in the north of China, announced the beginning of a campaign that will gather information on the singles of the city to establish a database that serves for “the dates and the marriage” of the young people, they reported in the last Chinese average hours.

Interested singles will have to provide information such as their name, their gender, their age or their financial situation to become part of the “singles bag”.

The local government thus responded to a request from a citizen on an online portal that lamented the limited social circles in which it moved and the “difficulties in meeting people of the opposite sex.”

The author of the message assured that, if the local government solved this problem, the young people could “concentrate better in the work”.

The year 2020 marked the seventh consecutive year in which the number of marriages fell, although it should be noted that in that year the covid-19 pandemic broke out, interrupting, especially in the first quarter of the year, the normal operation of some public offices .

In that year, the number of births in China fell for the fourth consecutive year, with 12 million compared to 14.65 million in 2019, while the fertility rate was 1.3 children per woman, below 2.1 estimated by the United Nations to maintain a stable population. (E)
