Many people use wooden chopping boards in the kitchen every day. However, unfortunately, not many of them care for them. The key is particularly proper to wash the boards. Check what to avoid and what to do.
In this way, you destroy the wooden chopping board. Avoid this mistake
Wooden chopping boards through their porous structure are easily absorbed by smells and food juices, which creates the risk of developing bacteria. So let’s have several boards in the kitchen for various purposes. One board cannot be used for everything. Meat should be cut on a different board, and bread or vegetables on a different. This is crucial to maintain cooking hygiene. It is equally important to wash wooden boards.
Many people make a popular mistake, i.e. wash wooden boards along with other dishwasher dishes. As noted above – wood absorbs water and other liquids, so exposed to long -term water and detergents in the dishwasher may be damaged. The same applies to long scrubbing and soaking of wooden boards in the kitchen sink. In turn, too short washing and gently rinsing them with water is not enough to remove the dirt and germs accumulated on them.
So how do you wash wooden chopping boards? Home methods are perfect here. One of them is use of lemon and table salt. First, we roll the lemon for a while on the counter to get as much juice as possible. Then cut it in half. Sprinkle the board with a few teaspoons of salt. We rub the lemon half -prepared surface until the salt dissolves and is not visible.
If the board is heavily soiled, you can leave it for about 20 minutes so that lemon juice and salt will eliminate pollution. Finally, just wipe the board dry, e.g. with a paper towel. Read also:
