Although the mandatory segregation of garbage came into force a few years ago, many people still have a problem with proper waste management. For this reason, they go not where they should, which translates into less recycling. Data of the Central Statistical Office leave no possibility. In 2022, less than half was gathered selectively. Even packaging after everyday products, including butter, are troublesome. Where should they hit?
How to segregate garbage? It’s not that simple
The packaging in butter may raise doubts about the proper segregation of garbage. After all, it is somewhat paper, but on the one hand covered with plastic and fat. Meanwhile, in a simplified way, we can choose:
- blue containers on paper,
- green containers on glass (in some municipalities there is still a distinction to white and colorful),
- brown containers for waste Bio,
- yellow containers on Metals and plastics,
- Black containers for waste mixed.
Of course, there are exceptions to the above.
Where to throw silver in butter? Forget about the yellow container
When it comes to packaging that comes into contact with food, including paper or a box and margarine, the most important issue is their purity. Even in the case of plastic, if it is all in fat, it should land in mixed waste. Waste for segregation cannot be dirty. Therefore, it is recommended to bring them to relative cleanliness before throwing away, but not by washing, but accurately emptying (so as not to use more water). All you have to do is collect the butter thoroughly with a knife or spoon. However, when it comes to the aforementioned “papers” sometimes called “silver” because They contain admixtures, and at the same time they are often irreversibly dirty, they should also go to confused.
How many kg of garbage does a Pole produce? The report leaves no doubt
According to the CSO report, in 2023 in Poland we produced 13.5 million tons of municipal waste, of which 11.6 million tons were collected from households. Its authors point out that proper garbage management is an essential element of the effective use of mineral resources. Meanwhile, in 2022, at 13.4 million tons of municipal waste, only 5.36 million tons were collected selectively. The average Pole then produced 355 kg of rubbish.
