Where to throw away a few socks? Expert: There are three options

The segregation of the Long in our country has been obligatory for several years. However, it still happens that we have no concept to which the container is thrown out. And recently, the new rules for the disposal of textiles have started to diverge, there have been more ines. For example: what to do with the consumption of underwear.

When I talked to my friends about changes about throwing used textiles, the most doubt was the fact what to do with underwear. We wondered Do you need to go to special points with one pair of used socks? Many people may think about this issue. Tips on this issue can be found on the instagram profile @lady_od_odpadów. Some time ago, its author shared several valuable advice. As she revealed, her post was inspired by numerous questions about this issue.

Where to throw out underwear? Many people have no idea

According to the author of the entry, we have three options. The first is a container for clothes. It often seems to us that it is not proper to throw damaged things there. However, @lady_od_odpadów draws attention to some important issue. “For some companies, damaged clothes and underwear do not disturb, because they produce alternative fuels from them (but this is still a cost for them). An example would be a company that supports the Polish Red Cross containers” – she wrote.

The second option is PSZOK, i.e. Selective collection of municipal waste. Many people refuse to this option. “They will not go with one sock to Pszok” – the author of the entry meets with such confessions. It is worth noting that in such cases the best option is to collect this type of waste for a longer period.

At selective municipal waste collection points, we can get rid of problematic waste. Importantly, from the beginning of this year, their duty is to take textile waste. They then go to the production of alternative fuels.

This is the worst option. “Wet textiles are shredding badly”

We can often find information that used underwear, which is no longer suitable for use, should be thrown into a mixed waste container. However, according to the author of the entry, this is the worst of three options. “Because they will consume moisture and dirt from other waste and will not be suitable for any process of their processing. Wet textiles are badly crushing and have worse parameters after crushing (moisture)” – we read in the post.
