Euskaraz Iraqurri: 17 Artistaren 28 LAN Erosi Ditu Eusko Jaurlaritzak

The Basque Government presented this Thursday at the Artium Museum of Vitoria-Gasteiz, through the Vicelehendakari and Culture Minister Ibone Bongoetxea, the acquisitions of works of art carried out in 2024 in the framework of the Shared Collection Project.

The Government has allocated 200,000 euros to acquire 28 works created by 16 artists and a collective: painting, sculpture, video, drawing, collage and photography. Those responsible for the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Basque Country, Artium Museoa, the Museum of Fine Arts of Bilbao and the International Center for Contemporary Culture Tabakalera are those in charge of establishing the selection of works and artists, and these pieces pass to Be part of the Artium collection.

The artists with works integrated in the shared collection 2024 are Juan Aizpitarte (San Sebastián, 1974); Ana Laura Aláez (Bilbao, 1964); Itziar Barrio (Bilbao, 1965); June Crespo (Iruña, 1982); The group formed by Mikel Díez Alaba (Bilbao, 1947) two whose pieces were made in collaboration with José Ramón Morquillas (Barakaldo, 1947-Bilbao, 2023); Jon Gorospe (Vitoria-Gasteiz, 1985); Tom Johnson (Colorado, United States, 1939-Paris, France, 2024); Kimia Kamvari (Colonia, Germany, 1986); Jesús Mari Lazkano (Bergara, 1960); Abigail Lazkoz (Bilbao, 1972); Claudia Rebeca Lorenzo (Logroño, 1988); Juan Mieg (Vitoria-Gasteiz, 1938); Gabriela Muñagorri (San Sebastián, 1974); Juan Pérez Agirregoikoa (San Sebastián, 1963); Alex Reynolds (Bilbao, 1978); Natalia Suárez Ortiz de Zárate (Vitoria-Gasteiz, 1994); and Darío Urzay (Bilbao, 1958).

Ibone Bengoetxea has advanced that the Basque Government will increase the financing for the purchase of works by Basque artists in 2025.

Since it was born in 2020 in the context of the health crisis produced by the Pandemia of the COVID-19, a total 172 works by 97 authors and authors have been acquired under this program.
