Just a few years ago, hardly anyone thought that Albania would become one of the most fashionable holiday destinations. Today, more and more vacationers are giving up crowded beaches of Greece or Spain for this Balkan paradise. As Prime Minister Edi Rama said on his Facebook, last year the country was visited by as many as 11.7 million tourists, and among them there were many Poles. Why is so much interest in Albania? Crystal clear water, picturesque landscapes and prices that allow you to enjoy the holidays without fear of the budget.
When is the best time to go to Albania? During this period, the weather will captivate you
Albania is a country where the Mediterranean climate on the coast meets the continental nature of mountain regions. In summer, especially in July and August, temperatures by the sea reach 29-32 degrees, and water reaches pleasant 24 lines. Winters, however, are mild, with temperatures of 9-10 degrees. However, if you care about a calmer rest, the best time to travel will be June. Although the sun is heating intensively, the heat is not yet annoying. Thermometers in this indicate a pleasant 26-28 degrees. The sea encourages bathing, and the beaches are not yet besieged by crowds. An additional advantage are more favorable prices and a looser, more intimate atmosphere in coastal towns.
Is Albania cheap? It falls much better than popular travel goals
If you are looking for a holiday direction that will not ruin your home budget, this Balkan country may turn out to be a hit. Albania has been considered a place for years where the price -quality ratio is extremely favorable. The flight itself does not have to be a big expense, because tickets to Tirana can often be found for a few hundred zlotys, especially if you are booked in advance. You will not overpay on the spot. There are many accommodation options. You will pay for a double room in a guest house with breakfast from PLN 150 per night. If you prefer hostels, you will hunt for the accommodation for PLN 50.
The issue of food looks similar. A full dinner in a restaurant is an expense of 500-1000 ALL, or about 22-43 PLN, and a cup of aromatic coffee costs from 4 to 8 PLN. It is also worth trying local delicacies, sold at street stalls. Byrek, a crunchy filo cake with filling, can be found on almost every corner, and a portion of fried calamari costs about 600 All (PLN 21). Visiting Albania is also not difficult. Renting a car is the greatest freedom that allows you to discover the less obvious corners of the country. The alternative are buses and buses between larger cities and resorts.
Where is the most beautiful in Albania? In the country of contrasts you will find real pearls
If you dream of where the mountains meet with the sea, and the Mediterranean climate is intertwined with authentic Balkan temperament, this country is for you. Albania still remains a bit mysterious, but this is her biggest advantage. Here, instead of mass tourism, you will find spectacular landscapes, empty beaches and places where time flows differently. Where is it worth going?
- Albanian Riviera – turquoise sea without crowds. The coast of the country is a paradise for lovers of the sun and beautiful beaches. Ksamil impresses with white sand and crystal clear water, Dhermi tempts with a wild, rocky coast, and Himara is the perfect choice for those who are looking for less obvious corners. Best of all, even at the top of the season you will find places where you can still relax without crowds.
- Cursed mountains. If the beaches are not enough for you, Albania offers something that is difficult to look for in other European resorts – raw, almost untouched mountains. The Valbon Valley and the Theth trail are one of the most beautiful trekking routes in the Balkans. Green meadows, turquoise rivers and stone villages, where local residents still lead life like years ago, make it an ideal place for those thirsty for adventures.
- Two historical cities inscribed on the UNESCO list. Berat, called the “city of a thousand windows”, is a real architectural pearl, where Ottoman houses seem to climb the slopes of the hill. Gjirokastra, in turn, impresses with stone streets and claim from which the mountains are viewed.
- Butrint. For history lovers, there is no better place than Butrint, an ancient city located just off the border with Greece. The ruins of the Greek theater, Roman baths and the Byzantine fortress guarantee a journey in time.
- Ohrid Lake – the Blue Pearl of the Balkans. One of the oldest and purest waters in the world. Although most of the attractions are on the Macedonian side, it is worth seeing the Albanian shore. Lin and Zagradec are towns where you can relax in the shadow of palm trees and try local fish that taste special here.
This is just a small fragment of what Albania has to offer. If you are looking for a wild adventure, beautiful landscapes, sunny beaches and places where time flows slower, be sure to put on this holiday direction. How do you like to spend your holidays?
