The 30th anniversary edition of the Pol’and’Rock Festival, which took place for the third time in Czaplinek-Broczyna, is behind us. Jurek Owsiak’s musical event was accompanied, as every year, by Przystanek Jezusa, a nationwide evangelization initiative aimed at young people, consisting of workshops, concerts and meetings with guests.
The bishop from Sosnowiec went to Jurek Owsiak’s Pol’and’Rock
One of the meetings, organized under the slogan “Without censorship – Bend the bishop”, was led by Bishop Artur Ważny, the new ordinary of the Sosnowiec diocese. The priest went out to talk to people about the future, life goals and fears. In an interview with the Catholic Information Agency, Bishop Ważny told about how he spent his time at the Pol’and’Rock Festival. “There was an evening meeting called ‘Bend the bishop’. They asked me if I would agree to it. I was a bit uncertain, because at first I heard ‘Kill the bishop’. I examined my conscience, repented for my sins and I was ready,” the priest reported.
“After this meeting, a young girl approached me and said: ‘The bishop knows what I live for. And I don’t know what I live for’. This is such a good question. What is the meaning, significance and purpose of my life, why do I live? Many people today, not only young people, have a problem with this. They wonder what is the meaning of being here, in this world. What is it supposed to serve, what will remain after me? Some people don’t even ask themselves such questions anymore,” he added.
In April, Pope Francis appointed Father Artur Ważny as the new ordinary of the Sosnowiec diocese. This is the aftermath of the scandal that erupted in August last year after a sex orgy organized in one of the local parishes. Police officers and paramedics found the man unconscious at the scene.
