Zamioculcas has never put out so many new shoots. I give it this mixture once a month.

It is the silent hero of almost every collection of potted plants. How to water zamioculcas to make it grow beautifully and put out new shoots? You do not have to invest in ready-made nutrients from stores. Homemade solutions will be cheaper and more effective.

Zamioculcas is a tropical perennial from East Africa, nicknamed the “jewel of Zanzibar”. It has gained immense popularity in recent years. It is a houseplant that tolerates low light and has a low water requirement. It produces smooth, naturally glossy leaves that range in color from bright lime when young to emerald green when mature. Individual leaves grow from thick, slightly tuberous stems, which in turn grow from large, water-storing rhizomes hidden underground.

Where should zamioculcas be placed? Take care of the appropriate position in the house

Zamioculcas care is simple, making it ideal for beginners in houseplants, but also for busy people. Apart from water and light levels, there aren’t many things to consider. Although it has a high resistance to adverse conditions, it does have its preferences. The best location in the house for zamioculcas will be semi-shady western exposure with diffused light. The optimal temperature for this will be around 20–25°C. Watch out for drafts, which can cause it to start dropping leaves.

How to water zamioculcas to make it sprout new shoots? This is how you can boost its growth at home

Zamioculcas is a plant that does not like too much water, so it is better not to overwater it. It is worth wiping the leaves with a damp cloth from time to time to maintain their intense color. To strengthen its growth and eventually let it sprout new shoots, take care of its nutrition. We will prepare a homemade conditioner based on gelatin and water. This way you will not only strengthen the roots of the plant, but also improve the appearance and color of the leaves.

  1. Heat a glass filled with water slightly.
  2. Add a spoonful of gelatin. Stir until dissolved.
  3. Set aside to cool.
  4. Then dilute the conditioner with three glasses of water.
  5. We water the zamioculcas once a month with the prepared nutrient.
