Their first meeting took place in 1983 in the Wrocław branch of the theatre school in Kraków. He was then in his second year, and Katarzyna Matusiak, because that is the actress’s maiden name, was just starting her adventure at the acting department. A feeling quickly arose between them and they became a couple, but they did not decide to get married right away.
This is how the Żaks’ marriage began. It was in Solejówek that the daughters of the acting couple grew up.
They formalized their relationship only after 2 years of being together. They earned money for the small ceremony by working in France renovating apartments. “We really wanted to be together, to get out of our conservative homes. And marriage was the only way to move out of our parents’ house with dignity and dignity,” the actress said. At first, they lived in Wrocław, where they shared a small one-hour room in the theatre and worked, acting in plays. “But that didn’t matter. We had each other and the desire to be together,” she recalled. Later, they moved to Solejówek near Warsaw, where their daughters Aleksandra and Zuzanna spent their childhood.
During this time, their careers also gained incredible momentum. Both of them fulfilled themselves both on stage and on screen. They also have several productions under their belt, first they created an unforgettable duo in a cult sitcom, and then they starred in an equally popular series. However, they were still looking for a place where they could relax from the multitude of duties and the hustle and bustle of the big city. After several years of searching, they finally found a plot of land on which their dream house was built.

The acting couple has built four houses in total, but it is the last one in Masuria that is their true oasis. “We wanted it to be a wooden house, to be energy-efficient, to be modern, but at the same time with a touch of the countryside, a bit Provençal,” she said in a video that appeared on the “Green energy-efficient and passive houses” profile on YouTube.
They outsourced the entire stage to a professional company, and monitored the process and progress mainly online, because due to their busy work schedule, they couldn’t be on site all the time. “We came here every two weeks to see the progress. Sometimes we checked Facebook to see what was happening on our construction site, and we were never disappointed,” Cezary Żak said, adding that everything went smoothly and according to plan.
When the work was finally completed, they were amazed that their dream had finally come true. The acting couple’s house is made of wood and is surrounded by vast fields, forests and lakes, which was key for them when choosing the plot. It is decorated with orange roof tiles, and the elevation is white with elements of wood painted the same color. Almost all windows have shutters, which gives the whole thing an idyllic character.
In the photos they share on social media, you can see that they have also decorated the interiors in a similar style.
