Does a natural antibiotic have a chance to spoil?

Can Honey Go Bad? The Answer Might Surprise You

The natural properties of honey make it one of the most durable food products and are not subject to spoilage. Properly stored, it retains its flavor and nutritional value. If unfavorable conditions occur, the product can ferment. This is due to the action of yeast, which is naturally found in the sweet ingredient. Why does this happen?

If you notice foam on the surface of the honey and smell a strong, characteristic smell of yeast, fermentation has most likely occurred. During the process, carbon dioxide and alcohol are released, which causes the honey to change its smell, taste and appearance. This usually happens due to poor and high humidity of the product, which is the result of beekeepers’ mistakes. JIf they collect honey too early, the bees are unable to remove excess moisture from the nectar and fermentation occurs in the closed jar. This product is not suitable for direct consumption, so it is worth preparing a drink, vinegar, plant fertilizer from it, or using it to produce home-made cosmetics.

Where to store honey in jars? The right way is important

Properly stored honey can retain its properties for many years. The best temperature for this product is 10-20 degrees, so it should be avoided in the refrigerator or near a heat source. The jar of honey should be stored in a dry, dark place, away from sunlight. It is important to keep the lid tightly closed. This will prevent moisture and fermentation. Use a wooden spoon when scooping honey and be careful not to get any dirt into the jar. If you’d like, please vote in our poll below.
