Many viewers associate Wojciech Pijanowski primarily with “Wheel of Fortune”, a format he brought to Poland in 1992. The presenter worked on the game show for only 3 years and it was not his first television success.
Back in the 1980s, together with Krzysztof Szewczyk and Włodzimierz Zientarski, the presenter created “Jarmark”. “It was probably the first entertainment programme of its kind, today we would say “close to people”. In addition, it was a window to the world, it looked behind the Iron Curtain” – he explained in an interview with Onet. The presenter believes that “Jarmak” became an inspiration for contemporary TV show producers. “Seeing what is shown on TV today, I often think: oh, we’ve already done this, we had it in ‘Jarmark’. Interestingly, in our case it was usually only a two- or three-minute programme module, and now they make whole seasons out of it” – he said in an interview with Wirtualna Polska.
However, before “Jarmark” appeared on TV screens, Pijanowski had already created a dozen or so of his own game shows, including: “Kolekcjonera”, “Kto z nim zakoni”, “Potyczki rodzina” and “Gęś”. When asked why he decided to give up working on “Kiel Fortuny”, he dropped out: “I’ll be honest, I was a bit tired. I left not because I was getting drunk, as Wikipedia once elegantly reported, but because I had had enough” – Wojciech Pijanowski told Plejada.
What is Wojciech Pijanowski doing now?
After many years, the presenter and creator of television programs decided to step back. In 2023, he appeared on “Dzień Dobry TVN”, where he spoke more extensively about what he does now. “I don’t feel like playing golf anymore, I’m too old, that’s what I think. But I translated a Canadian play, a comedy. I’m preparing a film with my friends from the States. I started writing a book about myself, it makes no sense at all. I go to the cinema, I understand what they’re talking about, it’s cool,” Pijanowski said during his visit to TVN.
