Dominika has been at the top of the rankings of the richest Polish women for years. She recently won the Wprost ranking for the eighth time. She took sixth place on the list of the richest Poles in 2024. After Jan Kulczyk’s death, his fortune was inherited by him and his son. Since 2015, Dominika has been meticulously increasing the inheritance. Today, her fortune alone is estimated at PLN 8.6 billion. How does she remember her childhood and what does she do?
The richest Polish woman remembers her childhood. “I washed myself in a lake, I hung with my friends on a clothesline”
In interviews, she has repeatedly emphasized that as children, her parents tried to raise her and her brother in “modesty”. They made sure that the siblings did not flaunt their wealth, spending holidays or vacations in the Canary Islands, or wearing expensive clothes. – I remember that when in the 80s there were tangerines at home, my parents did not allow them to be taken to school, so that my friends would not be upset. I was somehow taught modesty in a Poznań way. Once, my father brought me branded shoes from abroad, and I drowned them in a stream in Zakopane, because I was embarrassed to wear them. I went to a regular public school, at scout camps I washed myself in the lake, I hung with my friends on a clothesline – she said years ago in an interview with “Twój Styl”. As she admitted, as a child she was not aware that her family was one of the richest. It only dawned on her when she was 15, and in Poland the ranking of the richest Poles was published for the first time.
How does she remember her relationship with her father? – He was very caring, but I think he didn’t see us as having the same impact on the world as men. I was taught not to interrupt older people and not to say things that others might not like – she said in an interview.

What is Dominika Kulczyk’s education? Not related to business at all
Dominika Kulczyk has been involved in charity and humanitarian aid for years, as well as for local communities in Poland, Asia and Africa. She runs the Kulczyk Foundation and is also the chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of Kulczyk Holding and Polenergia SA, the largest private energy group in Poland. As she admitted a few years ago in an interview with “Forbes”, she never wanted to sit on a pedestal and “spend money”, and she also owes her wealth to hard work.
Contrary to appearances, she did not study economics or anything related to business. She graduated in sinology and political science from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. She spent several years on a scholarship in China and has also completed a course in strategic philanthropy. “I am much more and I always wanted to be much more,” she confessed. “Theoretically, I could pack my bags and leave with my children for warm countries. But that would be the easiest way,” she added.
