The beaches on the Baltic Sea are full, but the lodgings are empty. “Someone got excited that I’ll have to pay for accommodation”

Although there is no shortage of tourists on the Baltic Sea during the holidays, there is plenty of accommodation. It turns out that this year’s fashion is hitting the hotel industry hard. The Na Mierzeje portal looked into the matter. A short video on TikTok fully captures the atmosphere in seaside towns.

How is it possible that during the peak season there is still no shortage of free accommodation in Baltic resorts? The Na Mierzeje portal published an eloquent recording that shows that although there is no shortage of tourists on the beaches and the parking lots are full of cars, the owners of accommodation places cannot count on full occupancy.

They spend their holidays on the Baltic Sea, but they do not book accommodation

The authors of the recording asked internet users what the new phenomenon is. It turns out that more and more people are organizing one-day trips around Poland, without booking accommodation. “The era of one-day tourists” – comment local activists from the Na Mierzeje portal.

Their conclusions were confirmed in the comments under the video. TikTok users drew attention to the fact that the prices of accommodation in Poland have reached absurd levels this season. “A cottage for 3 people with a dog PLN 900 per day, short-term stay. I will fly to Budapest for that price and stay overnight,” one of the Internet users noted.

“I’ll take my own food”

It turns out that tourists are also looking for other options for saving money. “I go to the beach for 1 day, because I have 100 km. What’s more, I take my food in a basket from home, because it’s very expensive there”, “I live an hour’s drive from Świnoujście and Międzyzdroje. Why do I need a place to stay?”, “If I have 30 minutes to the beach, someone must have been excited that I would have to pay for accommodation”, “Because it’s cheaper to take a train for a day and come back than to go for the weekend. Szczecin – Międzyzdroje – train 20 PLN, takes an hour”, “People go for two days and sleep in cars” – we read. Representatives of the tourism industry, in turn, commented that the prices are so high because they have to earn for the whole year in two months.
