The actress Teresa Gimpera died this Tuesday in Barcelona at the age of 87according to one of her children. Gimpera, born in Igualada (Barcelona) on 21 September 1936, was the muse of the so-called ‘gauche divine’ as well as a model for advertising and an actress for film, theatre and television.

With a Nordic beauty and sophisticated appearance, she was considered one of the most attractive, elegant and photogenic actresses and models in Spain, and in 1969, already in her thirties, she won the titles of Lady España and Lady Europa.
At 21 years old It was discovered by photographer Leopoldo Poméswhich made her a sought-after advertising model for both magazines and television commercials, to the point that she was known as ‘the girl on TV’. With a film career marked more by quantity than quality, Teresa Gimpera set up her own modelling school in 1986.
In 1990, she won the ACE Award from the Association of Entertainment Journalists of New York for Best Supporting Actress for her role in ‘Asignatura recuperado’. In 2006, she received the Zoom Award for her professional career, in 2010 she received the Medal of Labor from the Generalitat and in 2017 the Catalan government awarded her the Creu de Sant Jordi. Teresa Gimpera’s wake will take place this Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. at the Sant Gervasi funeral home in Barcelona, where the funeral will also be held, on Thursday at 1:30 p.m.
