Joanne Vance
The Ecuadorian artist based in New York (@joannevancem) published her album Phospforecer in September. A work that mixed different musical genres whose central axis is rock and an alternative trend. It is available on digital distribution platforms and even had a limited vinyl edition run.
Olitas
Made up of David López, Daniela Sotomayor, Jorge Andrade and José Segarra, this new Guayaquil group released the singles IOI Y 1 Day + Thus, each one accompanied by a respective video. Olitas (@o_l_i_t_a_s) can be considered a proposal focused on folk and acoustic sounds, but it is not afraid to merge and experiment.
Mojo Myst
The Quito musician and producer Felipe Maldonado (@mojo_myst) started 2021 with his album Midnight Lab, which served as an impetus to position him as one of the revelations of the year. Mojo Myst produced a flawless production during the quarantine and with its indie pop essence refreshed independent national music along the way.
Agustín Rodas
From Cuenca, Agustín Rodas communicated with encrypted messages, samples, beats and a concept that resulted in his fourth studio work entitled New Era, an album that reaffirms that the Athens of Ecuador has a clear sound identity that is based on constant evolution.

I prefer Y I will forget you were two of the singles that the young artist from Guayaquil promoted this year. Camila (@camilaperezmusic) has the ability to make songs in which the music is aptly complemented by her deep lyrics that address themes such as loss, grief, and reminiscence.
These artists are the tip of a very extensive iceberg of what happened in terms of independent music in Ecuador in 2021. A branch that continues to grow more and more and that does not stop in the face of any adversity.
