Stanisława Ryster died on March 27, 2024 at the age of 81. For 31 years, the presenter was the host of “The Big Game”, a game show that won the hearts of Polish viewers. She got into television by accident, thanks to a casting for the role of a weather girl on Telewizja Polska. Instead of the aforementioned vacancy, Ryster began working on youth programs and news.
Stanisława Ryster learned about her dismissal from the newspapers.
In 1975, she received an offer to host a new game show. She devoted her whole heart to “The Big Game”, taking care of the participants’ appearance, developing the format and, in cooperation with specialists, developing questions for the players. Stanisław Ryster found out about Stanisław’s dismissal in 2006, while she was on vacation. “They did a mean thing to me, because they kept it a secret until the last moment that they were taking The Big Game off the air. I found out about it from the morning press. It was the height of rudeness” – commented Stanisława Ryster in an interview with “Fakt”.
Stanisława Ryster died in the spring. This is what her grave looks like now
Stanisława Ryster was buried on April 10 at the Powązki Cemetery in Warsaw. The ceremony was attended by the family and friends of the deceased presenter. Almost four months after the death of the host of “Wielka Gra”, the Instagram profile “Skarby Warszawy” shared a photo of the tombstone that appeared at the place of her burial.
The presenter was laid to rest in one grave with her parents: Janina Tirk and Norbert Tirk, who was an officer in the Polish Army. The stone slab attached to the monument bears the presenter’s name and surname, a plaque informing who she was, and Horace’s Latin motto “carpe diem”, meaning “seize the day”.
