Taylor Swift tickets cost a fortune, and she’s not the one making the most money off of them. They explained where those prices came from

Taylor Swift fans who want to hear their idol live have to spend outrageous amounts of money on tickets for the ongoing “The Eras Tour”. However, the star’s fee is not the largest percentage of the ticket price. So who makes money on tickets and why have music events become so expensive in recent years?

Although tickets for the concert in Poland cost a fortune, they were so popular that the servers could not handle it. Fans of the artist rushed to buy tickets more than a year before the singer’s planned arrival in our country. Although the cheapest tickets for the performance cost 199 PLN, anyone who has ever listened to a concert from the highest stands of the National Stadium, far from the stage, knows that the acoustics there leave much to be desired. For standing places, depending on the zones, you had to pay 669 or 519 PLN – in the VIP version with early entry – 1749 or 1249 PLN.

Taylor Swift tickets cost a fortune and are still hard to get

What’s more, not everyone can buy even such outrageously expensive tickets. Only those who registered on the ebilet.pl website by June 23 and expressed their desire to buy a ticket, and then were positively verified, have the opportunity to participate in the sale. Two weeks before the concert, information appeared on the web that tickets for “The Eras Tour” in Poland are again available.

Taylor’s fans who attended the concert in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, also paid a fortune for the concert. There, standing seats opposite the stage cost 240 euros (PLN 1,031), VIP tickets went for as much as 641 euros (PLN 2,754), and the cheapest option cost 113 euros (PLN 485). The Spiegel Online portal decided to answer the question that is tormenting fans: “why so expensive?”

As the portal emphasizes, only a portion of the money from tickets goes directly to the stars’ pockets. The largest portion of the revenue from tickets must cover the costs of organizing the concert, which includes renting the venue, security, cleaning, lighting, and building the stage. Someone must also sell the tickets – so part of the ticket price is distribution.

How Much Will Taylor Swift Earn on “The Eras Tour”? The portal calculated a gigantic amount

Spiegel Online reports that since the pandemic, service prices have increased by about 30 percent. So since artists have to pay more for concert service, their fans see a higher amount on tickets. According to experts, 25 to 40 percent of the ticket price is absorbed by the transport of equipment. The bigger the show, the more expensive the transport of its equipment. Artists who limit themselves to playing without additional fireworks can save money here. However, when it comes to musicians providing the audience with a big show, the costs are rising. Bands such as KISS or Rammstein need dozens of trucks to build a stage and a crew of several hundred people who will work for several hours building the stage.

– You see the show and it’s as good or even better than the others. If you’re a guy with an acoustic guitar, you can ask for less. We have 60 people and 20 trucks. Then there’s God knows how many buses, a jet, etc. – Gene Simmons from KISS listed in an interview.

So how much will Taylor Swift earn from her concerts? Spiegel Online estimates that the artist’s fee for one performance in Germany is between 10 and 13 million dollars. It is worth recalling that the star plans to play 152 concerts by the end of 2024. Assuming that the calculations are correct and assuming the least favorable option for Taylor, the artist will earn around 1.5 billion dollars on the current tour. That’s almost six billion złoty.
