The funeral of one of the children took place last Monday, but the news of his death was not announced until the day of the funeral. The 31-year-old was one of twins born to Danuta Holecka in 1993.
The host of the “Today” program did not show up for work on such a difficult day. She was replaced on air by Jacek Sobala, who addressed her directly in the last minutes of the station’s newscast.

Danuta Holecka has been hosting the main edition of the TV Republika newscast for over half a year. “Today” is a response to changes in TVP – in the public media during the PiS government, Holecka was one of the main faces of “Wiadomości”, widely considered to be the propaganda mouthpiece of the ruling party. After changes in Telewizja Polska, she moved to TV Republika, where in “Today” she provided viewers with the most important information of the day without any long absences.

Ladies and gentlemen, the truth is that we are supposedly making this news, but in our thoughts – just like you – we are with you, Danusia – Jacek Sobała, who replaced her in the main edition of the TV Republika news programme “Today”, addressed Holecka.
Employees of TV Republika have repeatedly emphasized in their conversations that their workplace has an exceptionally close atmosphere. “We are one big family,” Anna Popek, who hosts the morning program “Wstajemy” on TV Republika, recently emphasized.

Danuta Holecka is reluctant to talk about her private life. She is married to Krzysztof Dunin-Holecki, whom she met during her studies. In 1993, she gave birth to two sons – Julian and Stefan. Julian was supposed to be younger than Stefan by two minutes. They both chose medicine and although in her work Danuta Holecka also presented materials attacking, among others, underfunded health care and resident doctors, Julian Holecki supported the protests of young medics. In recent years, he was a valued orthopedist from the Bródnowski Hospital in Warsaw. The cause of his death was not given.
