Osgood Perkins proves, however, that creating a blood-curdling film is possible. On July 10, 2024, the world premiere of his latest production “Longlegs” took place, which debuted in Polish cinemas two days later under the name “Code of Evil”, causing a huge sensation among viewers.

The main character is Lee Harker, who is assigned to lead a renewed investigation into a serial killer after years. The young and inexperienced FBI agent, with supernatural abilities and exceptionally strong intuition, quickly finds the right trail. First, she finds numerous proofs of occultism, and later discovers that she also has personal connections to the perpetrator. This causes the situation to begin to get complicated.

Maika Monroe played the young detective, and he created the title character Longshanks on screen and did it flawlessly, because critics compare him to Anthony Hopkins’ award-winning role in the cult “Silence of the Lambs”. Another important factor in the reception of his character was not revealing his film image until the premiere, which only fueled curiosity and interest. “We didn’t want to be able to take a good look at him. The audience’s imagination can create more than the image will show. The idea was to say, ‘This guy is someone I don’t want to see,'” Perkins said in an interview.

Although the trailer for “Code of Evil” itself stirred extreme emotions, the premiere attracted real crowds. In its opening weekend in the United States, it earned twice as much as analysts had expected, as much as $22.5 million. Polish cinemas also recorded excellent results, although some did not stay until the end.
