The capital was buzzing about Wokulski’s romance with the director from “The Doll”. When she rejected him, he “consoled himself” with another

He is remembered by viewers as the actor Wokulski in the cult series “The Doll”, but he had many more outstanding acting roles to his credit. Although Jerzy Kamas was not considered a classic lover, he still enjoyed enormous popularity with women, with whom he willingly entered into fiery romances.

Jerzy Kamas was born on July 8, 1938 in Łódź. He didn’t think about it at all, because as a student at the River Shipyard Technical School in Koźle he wanted to build ships. One day, however, he went to a performance of a traveling theater from Opole and was enchanted by the idea of performing on stage. He decided to try his hand, but the first attempt to get a spot on the Łódź Film School ended in failure. Then he got a job in the theater as a props clerk and prompter, and after hours he prepared for the entrance exams. This eventually resulted in success.

For his role as Wokulski in “The Doll” the audience loved him. What productions did Jerzy Kamas have on his account?

He graduated in 1961, but made his debut 4 years earlier on the stage of the Ziemi Łódzkiej Theatre in the play “Kowal, Pieniądze i gwiazd” by Jerzy Szaniawski, directed by Stefania Domańska. He first appeared on screen in 1959, playing a cameo in the action drama “Ostatni Strzał” directed by Jan Rybkowski. In the following years, he regularly appeared both on stage and on screen. The most popular productions with his participation include “Doktor Judym”, “Kratka”, “Ostatnia mission” and “Dzieje mistrza Twardowskiego”, while younger audiences may associate him with “Klan” or “Na dobre i na złe”.

He is remembered by viewers especially for the 1978 series adaptation of Bolesław Prus’s “The Doll”. In it, he created the character of Stanisław Wokulski, forming a duet with Izabela Łęcka. – When I saw how beautifully he and Małgosia danced in “The Doll”, I always repeated that if Jerzy had played with me, it would have ended in marriage. I think I would have given in to him – said , who played the character a decade earlier in the film by Wojciech Jerzy Has.

He was a student when he first got married. Did his affair with the “principal’s wife” help his career?

It is true that Jerzy Kamas did not have the classic beauty of a lover, but he had charm, which is why he did not complain about success with the opposite sex. The first to win his heart was Ewa Miękus, whom he met while he was still a student. They quickly got married, but the relationship did not work out well, because the actress, who was 3 years younger than him, was jealous of his career development and this ultimately led to the divorce. Before it was finalized, he moved to Warsaw, where he joined the cast of the Ateneum Theatre. This was thanks to , the wife of the then director of the institution, Janusz Warmiński. They played in several plays together, and the corridors were quickly full of rumors that apart from work, they were also having an affair.

Although both categorically denied it, their co-workers had no illusions. It is enough to mention what happened when the actor started dating Wiesława Niemyska, whom they met during the preparations for the play “Don Juan or Love for Geometry”. The news quickly reached Śląska, who was unable to get over it. Although she did not want to divorce her husband due to her privileges, she decided to do everything to eliminate her rival. When Niemyska, unaware of anything, was planning to marry Kamas, the “director’s wife” spread cruel gossip about her. It was because of this that she decided to end the relationship soon afterwards and left her job at Ateneum.

After these adventures, Kamas was unable to create any stable relationship for a long time, and all of his subsequent relationships ended almost as quickly as they began. It was only when he met Beata in the 1980s, who became his second wife, that he believed in love again. Together they had two sons, Karol and Paweł, and were together until the actor’s death in August 2015.
