There is probably no person who does not return to their favorite productions from years ago from time to time. It is during such screenings that our attention is drawn to elements that had previously completely escaped our attention. It is no different in the case of cult films, because more than one book could be written about the blunders committed by their creators.
The series “Friends” was created almost 30 years ago. Can you believe it’s still a hit?
“Friends” is undoubtedly one of the most popular shows in the history of television. It debuted in September 1994 on NBC, making an immediate sensation. Since then, for almost a decade, viewers from all over the world have been following the life adventures and crazy fates of the main characters, accompanying them in both happy and sad moments.
Although the last clapperboard on the set was in 2004, the production has not faded into oblivion. On the contrary, it still enjoys huge interest and gains a new group of fans every year, who watch all of its seasons with interest, discovering behind-the-scenes secrets time and again. Many of them also notice the blunders and mistakes that occurred both during recording on the set and in post-production. As we know, there are plenty of those.
Where to watch all seasons of “Friends”? One viewer noticed another blunder during the screening
Due to the fact that their popularity is not waning, but is actually growing stronger, the license for their distribution was purchased some time ago by, among others, the streaming platform Max (formerly known as HBO) and some local versions. It was one of its subscribers who, during the screening of the premiere episode of season 10, noticed something that had not caught her attention before.
The scene in question is when Joey (played by Matt LeBlanc) enters the apartment he rents with Chandler (Matthew Perry). Then, on the right side of the screen, there appears… a square hole in the wall, which was not there in the television broadcast. The explanation for this blunder is not complicated. When the series was filmed, no one even dreamed of wide-screen TVs, so the frames were not adjusted to display on such receivers. Therefore, in the remastered version, the aspect ratio has changed from 4:3 to 16:9, thanks to which you can see much more on the screen than before. The recording of this oversight, which appeared on the TikTok platform, immediately sparked an avalanche of comments.
There’s no way I watched this show every day and never noticed this
And I thought I was crazy when I saw that
