Ostaszewska’s father founded a cult band. Few fans know about it. “I went to concerts with him”

Maja Ostaszewska can boast of countless roles in both theatre and film, which have made her one of the most sought-after actresses in the local industry. Few people know that her passion for art was born in childhood, as she grew up in a family with strong artistic traditions. Who is her father? He is a famous musician and director.

She was still a student at the Krakow theatre school when she made her screen debut in the cult film “Schindler’s List”. Today, Maja Ostaszewska is considered one of the most talented actresses in Poland. She has roles in productions such as “Katyń”, “Jack Strong”, “Body/Ciało”, “. Nowe rządki” and “Śniegu już nie już nie”. Few people know that she decided on her profession as a 6-year-old girl. What inspired her to do so?

Art has accompanied her since birth. Maja Ostaszewska’s father is a renowned musician in the industry.

she never hid the fact that her family home was filled with art. Although she was born in September 1972 in Kraków, she spent her childhood and youth in Ojców. It was there that her paternal grandfather built a house and gallery, with which her family has been associated for generations. Tadeusz Ostaszewski, because that’s who we’re talking about, came from a noble family of the Ostoja coat of arms, whose history dates back to the 14th century. He was a renowned sculptor and set designer at the Rhapsodic Theatre, but it wasn’t only to him that the actress owes her love of the stage. His wife, her grandmother, had the same passion, and she regularly performed in plays despite her lack of professional education.

Her father also became involved in the artistic world. Jacek Ostaszewski became famous as a composer, he plays many instruments, especially the flute and double bass, but for years he also fulfilled himself as a theatre actor and lecturer at the Krakow State Drama School. However, music is closest to his heart, and his greatest success is considered to be Osjan, which he founded together with Marek Jackowski in the early 1970s. – I love Osjan’s music because it reminds me of beautiful moments from my childhood. When I was a child, I often accompanied my parents to concerts – said Maja Ostaszewska in “Echo Dnia”. – I have only nice memories related to this music. It triggers good emotions in me – she added.

Maja Ostaszewska owes a lot to her parents. They infected her with a love of Buddhism.

Although she is reluctant to talk about her private life in interviews, the exception are her childhood memories. She has repeatedly emphasized that she owes her career and successes to her parents, because they never tried to subordinate her to them. On the contrary, they gave her freedom and space to develop her own passions and interests, even if they themselves did not see them as a chance to obtain a solid profession in the future. “I received a gift from fate: wonderful parents, wonderful siblings and a warm, loving home. What I took from it gives me the opportunity to develop to this day, it is my path to freedom and the greatest value in my life,” she said in the same interview, adding that thanks to their hard work she was able to travel the world and get to know different cultures.

Buddhism has been close to her from the beginning, because years ago her whole family settled in the village of Przesieka near Karpacz, where a center for followers of this religion was being built nearby. – My parents practiced Japanese Zen, so Buddhist masters often came to visit us. Against the background of the grey reality at that time, our home was very colorful. It was then that I understood that the world is diverse. I was not afraid of otherness – she recalled in “Viva”, adding that she was named after the mother of Buddha, the founder of this religion. She also admitted that it is to her mother and father that she owes her love of nature and animals, for whose decent living conditions she fights, getting involved in various charity campaigns.
