It cost almost $300 million. The cast includes Brad Pitt, and the director of “Top Gun: Maverick” is behind the camera.

As promised, the trailer for the new Apple TV+ film has hit the web. The director of last year’s hit “Top Gun: Maveric”, Joseph Kosinski, is behind the camera. The production will appear in cinemas next year.

Foreign media reported that Joseph Kosinski intended to make a film about Formula 1 in 2022. The director came up with the idea in 2019, while working on the hit “Top Gun: Maverick” with Tom Cruise in the lead role. Through the actor, Kosinski contacted Lewis Hamilton, who later became the producer of “F1” with Jerry Bruckheimer (“Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl”).

Will this be a hit like “Top Gun: Maverick”? First trailer for “F1” has hit the web

Much of the film was shot at last year’s British Grand Prix. The astronomical $300 million production budget may be mind-boggling, but if the creators can create a spectacle with the precision of “Top Gun: Maverick,” it has a good chance of becoming next summer’s hit. The director himself admitted in an interview with “Dealine” that the actors actually drove racing cars on the set. “Brad and Damson actually drove cars, which is spectacular in itself. But doing it in front of an audience and at the speed they did it, plus figuring out how to capture it all… The logistics of it were unlike anything I’ve done before,” said Joseph Kosinski.

“F1” tells the story of a retired racing driver who returns to the track to mentor a younger colleague (played by Damson Idris). The cast also includes Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem, Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia and Samson Kayo. The script was written by Ehren Kruger, who previously worked on “Top Gun: Maverick”. The film will hit theaters on June 25, 2025, and a few months later will be available to Apple TV+ subscribers. You can watch the trailer below.
