Metallica’s Friday concert began with the sounds of “Ecstasy of Gold”, which have been heralding the band’s entrance on stage for years. Then, fans could hear “Creeping Death” from the band’s second album and “Harvester of Sorrow” from “…And Justice for All”. In 2019, Metallica musicians prepared a special surprise for Polish fans. During the concert, the band played a fragment of Czesław Niemen’s “Sn o Warszawie”. A year earlier, the musicians performed “Wehikuł czasu” by Dżem at the Tauron Arena in Krakow. This time, they also prepared a surprise especially for those present at the PGE Narodowy.

“Back in Black” in Warsaw

Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo announced during a July 5 concert that a song written specifically for the band’s Warsaw performance would soon be performed. Interestingly, a portion of the proceeds from every ticket sold for a Metallica concert, including those played in Poland, will go to the band’s All Within My Hands foundation. Founded in 2017, AWMH strives to help and support members of the community. The organization has raised almost $13 million – distributing $5.9 million in grants to career and technical education programs in the U.S., over $2.5 million to combat food insecurity, and over $3.2 million to help victims of natural disasters around the world.
