Are you tired of the stuffiness in your apartment? Take a look at your windows. You probably forgot about it after the winter

How to switch windows to summer mode? While almost everyone remembers to do this in winter, with the arrival of warmer months we often skip this activity. Meanwhile, it has a huge impact on our comfort and the life of windows.

In winter, many people implement actions that will not only allow them to save on heating, but will also simply make the apartment warmer. For this reason, they use a simple trick to seal the windows. Unfortunately, it often happens that they forget about it, which is why the apartments are stuffy in the summer. How to deal with this?

What is winter and summer mode in windows? The difference is big

Switching windows to summer or winter mode is nothing more than increasing or decreasing the pressure of the sash against the frame, thanks to which we can adjust their tightness. Many people use this trick in winter, when the outside temperature is low and warm air escapes from the apartment through the gaps all day long. Although ventilation is also necessary in the cold season, by pressing the sash you can have some control over it and save a lot on heating. It is only worth remembering to switch them back to summer mode with the arrival of the hot months. Otherwise, the heat will be particularly bothersome.

What does the summer mode in the window give? Better remember about it

It is enough to close the windows for a moment in the summer and the air in the apartment becomes stagnant, stuffy and unbearable? Perhaps in the previous months you pressed the sash against the frame, completely blocking the air circulation. For better comfort and well-being, it is worth reversing this process and making them a little more leaky. In addition, proper adjustment of the pressure will extend the life of the windows. In the summer, due to high temperatures, they can expand, so it is better to give them more “slack”.

How to change your windows to summer ones? It will take you a few minutes

Summer mode in windows is simply reducing the pressure of the sash on the frame. You don’t need the help of a specialist to switch it. Just get an Allen key or pliers and open the window. You should locate the bolt on the frame and check how its marking is aligned with the gasket. This method works on most modern windows. If it’s on the narrow side, you have winter mode, if it’s on the thick side – winter mode (sometimes the marking is a dot or line and its position relative to the seal – closer means you have winter mode). In this case, turn it 180 degrees and the pressure will be less, which will provide you with better air circulation. If you’d like, please vote in our poll below.
