Brutal story based on facts in Netflix’s TOP10. Viewers shocked. “I can’t watch it”

There are productions that freeze the blood in your veins from the very first moment, especially when their plot is inspired by true events. This category undoubtedly includes the 2019 film “Oloture”, and now its sequel. Although the series has only just debuted on Netflix, it has already placed high in the TOP10 ranking. What is it about?

In late October 2019, the Nigerian drama “Òlòtūré” directed by Kenneth Gyang had its world premiere. The plot centered around a journalist who, wanting to expose a network of traffickers of so-called human goods, poses as a prostitute in Lagos. In this way, she becomes part of an underground world full of violence and brutality. The film quickly aroused the interest of viewers, breaking popularity records and less than a year later it hit the library. Now it has an equally shocking sequel.

First a movie, now a miniseries. Fans have been waiting for the continuation of the story of “Òlòtūré” for almost 5 years

This is the miniseries “Òlòtūré: Journey”, which again focuses on the fate of the main character, this time, however, right after the members of the criminal group are revealed. The woman is determined to expose everyone who participates in this criminal activity on a global scale, but she does not expect that she will have to pay such a high price for it.

Each of the three episodes, which last from 33 to 39 minutes, shows her completely different struggles and hardships that she has to overcome to achieve her goal. On her way to Europe, she finds herself in the middle of a gang war and seeks hope for rescue among the local community. This time, however, human trafficking is more of a side plot, and the creators have focused more broadly on her internal experiences and observations in the pursuit of justice.

Where to watch the series “Òlòtūré: Journey”? Its plot is inspired by true events

Sharon Ooja once again played the title character on screen, and at her side appeared such stars as Omoni Oboli, Daniel Etim Effiong, Ada Ameh and Blossom Chkwujekwu. It is worth mentioning that the inspiration for the production was a collection of accounts of many different journalists working undercover, including in particular the stories told by Tobore Ovourie.

All this undoubtedly determined the unquestionable success of “Podróże” and the interest it aroused among viewers. It debuted on June 28, 2024 and just a few days after its premiere, the series was ranked 5th in the TOP10 most popular titles on the platform. However, this is not the end, because interest in it is not waning, but is growing stronger, so it is possible that it will hit the podium in the coming days, especially since the opinions of viewers are full of admiration.
