Getxo opens the jazz season
Basque: Getxo jazz is a popular festival in the summer of 2019
The Basque jazz festival circuit gets underway this Wednesday, July 3, in Getxo. The 47th edition of the International Festival in the Biscayan coastal town has scheduled seventeen musical performances in the different sections that comprise it.
The Getxo Jazz subscription concerts will take place in Muxikebarri starting at 9:00 p.m. As usual, one of the finalists of the Group Competition will open the night, Seada Quarteta young Galician group, and after them, will go on stage James Carter (1969, Detroit), one of the most notable wind instrumentalists to emerge in the 1990s.
On this occasion, Carter arrives in Getxo leading the Organ Trio, which includes drummer Alex White and keyboardist Gerard Gibbs.
The day is completed with a concert by the Basque singer Irati Bilbaoresponsible for opening the Third Millennium section.
The paid concert programme at Muxikebarri includes, in addition to Carter, Hiromi Sonicwonder, Rosenwinkel Turner Street Ballard, Stacey Kent and the Bill Frisell Trio.
