Kulunka company wins two Max awards thanks to the masked theatre of ‘Forever’

Basque: The words of Max are spoken by the crowd saying ‘Forever’ in the mask of the heartfelt thanks

The mask theatre of forever from the Kulunka company has been one of the winners of the XXVII edition of the Max awards held this Monday at the Adán Martín Auditorium in Tenerife.

‘Forever’ started as a favourite in four categories and has taken home the Max stage direction for Iñaki Rikarte and that of best playwriting for Iñaki Rikarte, Garbiñe Insausti, Edu Carcamo and Jose Dault.

In addition, the Navarrese actress Natalia Huarte She has been awarded the Max for best actress for Psychosis 4.48by British writer Sarah Kane, which refers to the time of day when most suicides are committed.

forever It is a masked play, “the story of how a family moves away from what it dreamed it would be.” “Reflecting the contradictions of love with humor and irony, it focuses on issues such as parenthood, education, disability, overprotection, sexuality and violence,” the company explains.

Meanwhile, three other works, two Basque productions and another written by the Basque playwright María Goiricelaya, arrived in Tenerife with double nominations, but did not win an award: The empty housefrom the Larrua company (best dance show and best musical composition for Luis Miguel Cobo); Nevenkafrom the Andalusian company Histrión (best theatrical authorship and best stage direction, for Maria Goiricelaya); and Zarraby Adriana Bilbao’s company (best dance show and best production).

Finally, Arrainak bihotzeanfrom the Mar-Mar company, was competing to win the award for best children’s and youth show; Geure(r)aby Harrobia Dantza Bertikala, for the best street performance; and Yarinby Kukai Dantza, for best male performer with Jon Maya and Andrés Marín (ex aequo), but they have not won an award either.
