FREEDOM Film Festival Director Łukasz Adamski, together with programmers Anna Andriushchenko and Marta Karnkowska, selected a unique set of films for the event participants, reflecting painfully current topics and difficult emotions. On July 10-13 at the MCSW Elektrownia Studio Cinema and the PaTaThai festival club in Radom Almost 50 productions will be presented: feature films, animations and documentaries, which – as the programmer of the Polish competition guarantees – “we will be thinking about for many hours after the screening”.

The PaTaThai Radom festival club is known to all participants of the event – for its fantastic atmosphere and great cuisine. It is there – on the festival Friday – that the most extraordinary events take place. Last year it was a screening of Sebastian Fabijański’s film combined with a meeting with the artist. This year, on July 12, Podwórko Sezam will host Hiob Dylan and the accompanying Worst Band in the World, who play in an American style, inspired by such unusual genres as anti-folk and outlaw country, but sing in Polish, accurately commenting on Polish reality.
The Last Supper’s cinema premiere at the FREEDOM Film Festival
The Polish reality will also be discussed in a film that will be shown right after the concert. “1953. Fight for Hope” will present a story from seven decades ago, when two months after Stalin’s death, legendary coach Feliks Stamm prepared the Polish boxing team to face the Soviets at the European Championships. A documentary about war-torn, politically enslaved Poland, whose victory in the boxing ring gave the entire nation a sense of freedom – it is a story about the past, in which it is easy to find a reflection of the difficult present. After the screening of the film, there will be a meeting with its creators – director Marek Jagielski, producer Stanisław Drozdowski and production manager Konrad Tambor.
On Saturday, July 13th FREEDOM Film Festival audience will be the first in Poland to have the opportunity to see “The Last Supper” Bartosz M. Kowalski on the cinema screen. The specialist in Polish horror cinema, after two slashers “Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Today” and “Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Today 2”, made a horror for Netflix, the likes of which have never been seen in Polish genre cinema, and which has so far been shown exclusively on this platform.
Final Gala and Concert by Zofia Nowakowska
The final gala of the festival, which will take place on Saturday, July 13 at the Oskar Kolberg Music School Complex, is a ceremonial moment of awarding prizes, as well as an opportunity to officially thank the financing institutions, partners, sponsors and the festival team.
The ceremony will traditionally be graced by a concert by a star. This year it will be Zofia Nowakowska, an actress of Studio Buffo (until 2010) and the Roma Musical Theatre in Warsaw (currently), known to the national audience primarily as a soloist in Piotr Rubik’s band, a participant in the program “Your Face Sounds Familiar” and… the voice of Nala from the new Disney “The Lion King”.
