Netflix Will Have Big Competition. Tubi Enters Europe
According to Fox, the Tubi platform had a record month in the United States in May 2024. In addition, the service has already registered 80 million users, which means that the service has equaled Disney Plus in the American market. However, the platform has a big advantage because it is free.
Tubi is supported by advertisements that appear to users when using its resources. After its success in the US, the service will conquer another market. Rupert Murdoch’s Fox Corporation has already launched the service in Great Britain. The platform also offers over 20 thousand titles from Disney, Lionsgate, NBCUniversal and Sony Pictures.

“Tubi has spent the last decade perfecting its approach to delivering a broad, free and entertaining streaming experience in North America. We believe this is the perfect time to bring a similar experience to British viewers. The Variety portal reports that this is not the last word from Tubi. The platform plans to introduce its offer to other markets in Europe.
The decision to expand Tubi’s operations could accelerate Netflix’s work on a free option for the platform, which the service is still testing. The company recently completed tests of the free service in Kenya and wanted to start more in Japan and Germany. As Bloomberg emphasized, the idea is still in the early stages of internal negotiations. Pressure from competitors could shake things up here, or has already done so. Perhaps Netflix’s management learned about or anticipated Tubi’s move and inspired them to try their own innovations.
