Santiago Segura has announced the return of ‘Torrente’ with the sixth film in the saga starring the fictional character of José Luis Torrente, a sexist, racist and Francoist police officer, with whom the filmmaker achieved great popularity.

In an interview on Antena 3’s ‘El Hormiguero’, the film director has revealed that he has been writing the new ‘Torrente’ film for two and a half years, the shooting of which is scheduled to begin next year. Without giving further details, the actor has revealed that the film will be titled ‘Torrente president’.

The filmmaker, immersed in the promotion of ‘Father there is only one 4’, has indicated that he believes that Spaniards are “horny” and will continue to have “a great sense of humor” with the return of ‘Torrente’, a film starring himself that premiered for the first time in 1998.

“People clearly understand what fiction is. Within fiction, there are things that you say ‘what bad taste’, ‘I didn’t like it’… but it’s okay, it’s a joke,” Segura said.

In this way, although he has not advanced anything about the argument of ‘Torrente presidente’, Segura has affirmed that will do what it has “always” done. “I think you come up with crazy ideas, things that you think will make people laugh, think or shock them, and that’s what I do,” he explained.
