With a crystal tiara perfectly perched atop her head, Kennedy waved and smiled at people during the recent Baltimore Pride parade in downtown Baltimore, Maryland. Kennedy walked down a rainbow-colored sidewalk with her husband at her side and a satin “Miss Maryland USA” sash draped over her pink dress. Residents stopped to take photos with Kennedy, congratulating her on her historic victory.

Kennedy said she decided to enter her first pageant last year after Miss USA lifted restrictions on contestants who are married and over the age of 28. Her victory on June 1 also made her the first wife of a military officer and the oldest woman to win the crown.

She said: I knew it would ultimately mean something more to my community, the LGBTQIA+ community, military spouses and immigrant women. “I hope this sends a message to everyone and is a great invitation for people to just be themselves and forge their own path, just like I did.”
The woman did not hide her emotion and promised that she would not worry about the haters
I hope that being able to represent a community that has been through so much adversity will allow people to open their hearts and minds and see that we are just like everyone else.
Finally, with tears in her eyes, Kennedy said that regardless of her title as a beauty pageant winner, she hopes she will be remembered for her kind heart.
