The sight of the bloody hero lying on the ground aroused concern among fans who suspected that Mikołaj Roznerski might disappear from the cast of the TVP2 hit after the summer break. Shortly after the premiere of the 1,808th episode on May 21, a short preview of what awaits viewers after the summer break appeared on the series’ official social media profile. It completely contradicts the theory that Marcin would die as a result of a brutal beating. Bah! The hero has to escape from the dark warehouse on his own and then wander helplessly through the forest in search of salvation. Sounds familiar? But that’s not the end.
The injured hero is accidentally encountered by a doctor, Marlena Wysocka, who is walking along one of the local roads. Barely conscious, Marcin admits to the woman that he doesn’t remember anything and doesn’t know who he is. Although the trailer does not tell us what will happen to Marcin next, reports from “Super Express” indicate that the hero will live in the doctor’s house, and when he recovers, he will also take up… cutting down trees and gardening. He will also change his image, or more precisely his hairstyle, which Mikołaj Roznerski announced on social media by posting a short recording from the shooting set.
While the main character’s amnesia is undoubtedly one of the most popular tricks used by screenwriters in various productions, the subsequent details strongly bring to mind the classic that everyone knows and certainly watched on Netflix quite recently. We are talking about “The Quack”, a story following the further fate of Professor Wilczur, tortured by local thugs. The hero loses his memory as a result of a severe beating and then wanders around the area not knowing who he is or where he is going. Since then, Antonii Kosiba, searching for the truth about his past (he assumes this identity after losing his memory), has been doing various jobs, including… working in a sawmill. Later he comes under the wing of Prokop Mielnik, where he starts working in the mill.
Of course, we can put blinders on, pretend that the similarity between the fate of Wilczur from “Quack” and Marcin from “M jak miłość” is not striking enough, and suspect the creators of drawing inspiration from the film classic, but it does not change the fact that in our minds the viewer automatically lights up a red light that screams: “I’ve seen this somewhere before.”
