When the first film in the “Mad Max” series was released in 1979, no one expected that the low-budget title would bring huge profits and be the first production to launch a franchise. On the wave of its popularity, two more parts were made, and after a 30-year break, the creators returned to the series. First, a reboot of the film was filmed with a new cast, and a few weeks ago the production entitled “Furiosa: The Mad Max Saga”, which is a spin-off and prequel to the 2015 film.

However, the film flopped spectacularly in theaters. “Furiosa: The Mad Max Saga” earned a total of $168 million in theaters, which is the same amount as the production budget. To this must be added the cost of marketing and distribution, as well as salaries for big stars, such as Anna Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth playing the main roles. This clearly indicates that Warner Bros. Pictures can’t call it a success.

For this reason, the film was shown in cinemas for a very short time. It debuted in the United States on May 14, and in Poland it began to be shown on May 24, but the studio decided to make a radical move. Starting today, the post-apocalyptic film is available for purchase on Amazon Prime Video. Production in the HD version costs PLN 64.99, and access to the standard definition version is PLN 54.99.
