Seth Binzer, also known as Shifty Shellshock, has died. The vocalist of the band Crazy Town, to whom we owe the song “Butterfly”, was 49 years old.

Seth Binzer from Crazy Town has died

Seth Binzer founded Crazy Town together with Bret Mazur in the mid-1990s. They conquered the world quite unexpectedly in 2000 with the hit “Butterfly”. The song stayed on the Billboard charts for a long time and gave the group international fame. However, Binzer privately struggled with his own problems.

For years he had been struggling with addictions, mainly to narcotics. He tried to fight them publicly in a series of television programs showing celebrity rehabs. He appeared in two parts of “Celebrity Rehab” and two seasons of “Sober House”. The last season of “Sober House” hit TV screens in 2009, but in the following years Binzer made headlines on American portals several times. He was arrested for drug possession, and his ex-partner testified in court that he smoked crack cocaine in front of his son.

Although Seth Binzer and Crazy Town gave the world “Butterfly”, no other album or song of theirs has made such a sensation. The group tried to repeat the success of the hit several times, until finally in 2003 they played their last concert and announced that they were disbanding the band. Together with Bret Mazur, he tried to reactivate Crazy Town after a few years. Although they still failed to achieve success again, they toured together until 2017. When Mazur left the band, Crazy Town was renamed Crazy Town X.
