The whole world has been watching the second part of the film “Dune” on HBO for several weeks. Production on the streaming service is experiencing a second boom – it has remained steadily in the first place of the most watched films since May 21, the day it hit the platform. For a long time, this result also applied to Poland. This changed when HBO Max became the MAX platform. “Dune”, “Barbie” and other international blockbusters in recent months have lost their leading position.
“Dune”? The Polish hit was conquered by MAX
The second part of “Dune” is still one of the most watched films on MAX, but in recent days a completely different title has taken the lead. This is a Polish hit from the beginning of this year: “Sami swoi. Beginning”. The production directed by Artur Żmijewski was extremely warmly received not only in cinemas. For several days now, it has been the most watched film in Poland on MAX.
Polish productions conquered MAX from the first day of the platform’s launch. Although “Dune” and “Menu” were just behind the new part of “Home Alone”, the top ten most watched films include “The In-Laws 2” and “Dangerous Gentlemen”.
The addition of some productions previously available only on Player TVN to MAX meant that the series and programs section was dominated by Polish productions. “Dragon’s House” may reign all over the world, but in Poland, “Skazana” is the real queen. Poles almost rushed to catch up on unwatched episodes of “Kitchen Revolutions” or “Kuba Wojewódzki”, we also reached for TVN’s crime classics: “Chyłka”, “Pułapka”, “Inverted” and “Klara”.
What about Netflix?
So far, HBO has not attracted fans of Polish productions – before the library was made available with Player TVN, there were few of them, and the premieres were so rare that they could not stay on the lists of the most watched films or series. Netflix, in turn, has also been focusing on our domestic titles for years. And so, the most watched film in Poland for several days now is “The Inheritance” with Maciej Stuhr and both parts of the movie “In-Laws”. The series is dominated by foreign productions (“Gangs of Galicia”, “The Bridgertons”), cartoons (“Kicia Kocia”) and one Polish title – “Krucjata”.
