Marek Kondrat knew the Kaczyńskis in his childhood. “A Painful Memory”

Marek Kondrat has been working on film sets since childhood. At one of them, by accident, he also met the Kaczyński brothers, who were making their debut at that time, with whom he spent his free time.

He was making “The Story of a Yellow Boot”, they were making “Two Men Who Stole the Moon”. For 11-year-old Marek Kondrat and 12-year-old twins Lech and it was their film debut. The filming of both productions took place in the same place for some time, so the boys spent their free time from work together in one hotel. in a conversation with Dorota Wysocka-Schnepf, he told what later politicians were like in their childhood.

Although the long hours of work on both film sets were very demanding for the boys, after returning to the hotel they still had plenty of energy to play. However, as Marek Kondrat recalls, the main fun for the brothers were tin soldiers and war, which were extremely popular at that time:

Sometimes I visited them, sometimes they visited me. My room was located above the entrance to the hotel, which had a roof. Something fell on them and one of the twin brothers got out, for which he was severely scolded by the hotel staff – with the threat that they would not shoot any more films in this place – Kondrat recalled in Dorota Wysocka-Schnepf’s program on TVP.

They mainly played war games, they had a few boxes of lead soldiers. This was the content of their games. Usually Jarek had to win this war. Leszek, who was more modest in these ambitions, had to lose, in short – adds Kondrat.

The actor recalled that the trip was difficult for the adults who had to control the temperament of all the boys. The Kaczyńskis were on the set thanks to Lech’s godfather, Stanisław Miedza-Tomaszewski, who submitted them to the casting. Marek Kondrat has recalled many times in the past the scenes he saw on the set. Although their mother, Jadwiga Kaczyńska, looked after them (she had to give up work for half a year), the Kaczyńskis were called on the set “uncontrollable elements” and “wits”:

They were an uncontrollable element, an educational problem for everyone, because in order to do something on the fly, they had to be pacified first – recalled Kondrat a few years ago in an interview with “Duży Format”.

In “Asymmetrical Conversations” on TVP Info, he also noted that it was already possible to predict that the problems of teenage years would not go away in the future. He also feels sorry for himself:

I have a painful memory of it. Looking back over the years, I thought that I had done nothing during the time I met them to convince them to become actors after all. Because it would be much healthier for the region we live in. (…) I saw how they hung on each other, how dependent they were on each other. And how they complicate other people’s lives, including together. A psychologist would say that it is possible to notice in childhood who will be who in the future – summed up Kondrat.

The adventure with film for the Kaczyński brothers ended with this production. “About Two Men Who Stole the Moon” became one of the classics of children’s cinema from the times of the Polish People’s Republic.
