Not an IQ test result at all. These seven traits indicate high intelligence. One will surprise you

Intelligence is not only about school grades and IQ test scores. It is also a set of specific abilities and behaviors, ways of reacting and tendencies. What features indicate intelligence? These seven are the most common signs of a high IQ.

A high IQ often goes hand in hand with emotional intelligence (EQ). Although they are not the only conditions that can indicate success or how others perceive us, they carry with them a specific set of characteristics. They are the reason why a person can boast above-average skills. One of them is the ability to self-analysis. So if you’ve ever asked yourself if you’re really a person, that’s the first good sign. Before you start looking for the rest of the features, remember to take it all in stride.

What are the characteristics of emotional intelligence? These are the three most important elements

IQ is most often determined using tests, sometimes complicated, other times simpler and requiring not knowledge, but the ability to analyze and think outside the box. In turn, emotional intelligence, as demonstrated by John Mayer and Peter Salavey from Harvard University, it is, above all, conscious recognition, control and use of emotions.

Emotional intelligence goes hand in hand with empathy, solving problems and conflicts, and dealing with stress. The combination of a high IQ and emotional intelligence allows you to describe yourself as someone special. What does an intelligent person have?

What traits indicate intelligence? These seven are a good sign

High intelligence, including emotional intelligence, is associated with specific character traits and predispositions. Some are not obvious, others we immediately associate with above-average abilities. What are these features?

  1. Curiosity about the world and the desire to understand how it works. It is also about asking questions, looking for answers and the need for education and acquiring new knowledge. However, it sometimes leads to over-analysis and over-thinking about trivial matters.
  2. The need for one’s own company and solitude. It’s not about aversion to people, but about the need to spend time alone, even occasionally. Thanks to this, you gain distance, think things over or simply rest and “recharge your batteries”.
  3. The ability to accept your own ignorance. If you know that you know nothing, you can only be happy. People with high intelligence can admit not only their mistakes, but also their ignorance. Modesty and humility show that you do not rest on your laurels.
  4. Open mind. Acquiring new knowledge is not everything. Open-mindedness, avoiding being confined to a certain bubble, constantly challenging yourself with new ideas and beliefs, and being able to listen to and understand other reasons that do not necessarily involve agreement are also signs of high intelligence.
  5. A sense of humor and distance. It is not always understood by others, especially when it refers to things that are not obvious. Wit often goes hand in hand with irony and distance towards oneself and the world among intelligent people.
  6. Memory for details and concentration. Focusing on the most important ones, rejecting the less important ones, concentration and at the same time good memory make it easier to cope with difficult situations and solve tasks.
  7. Procrastination. Although it may seem shocking and strange to some, procrastinating certain tasks is not necessarily a sign of laziness. The key is to set priorities appropriately so that it brings the greatest benefits.
