“Together with my daughter and granddaughter, we sadly announce the death of my mother, Anouk Aimee. I was with her until her last moments this morning at her home in Paris – wrote Manuela Papatakis, daughter of the legendary French actress. Anouk Aimee began her career in the 1940s. of the last century, still as a teenager. Her roles in the 1960s brought her the greatest fame. It was then that she appeared in Federico Fellini’s films, and her roles began to receive awards.

Her performance in “A Woman and a Man” was especially memorable. Although Aimee, who was nominated for an Oscar, did not receive the statuette (Elizabeth Taylor won it for “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolf”), but she did win a Golden Globe and a BAFTA for her role. Her roles include such timeless films as “La Dolce Vita” and “Eight and a Half” by Fellini, “Lola” by Jacques Demy and “The Last Days of Sodom and Gomorrah” by Robert Aldrich. Anouk Aimee was fluent in Italian and English. Although she appeared mainly in French cinema, she could also be seen in Italian, Spanish, German, British and American – as well as Polish – films. In 1984, she starred with Skolimowski in “The best revenge is success”.

Fellini called her “a star because she is wonderfully photogenic, provocative – she belongs to the wonderful pantheon of cinema stars who had faces with the same intriguing sensuality as Garbo, Dietrich, Crawford – great, mysterious queens, priestesses of femininity. Anouk Aimee represents the type of woman who leaves you confused and unhinged – to death.”
