Although Dorota Kamiñska has had many outstanding roles, for a long time she was perceived not through the prism of talent, but through the prism of her captivating beauty. At the peak of her popularity, she had crowds of admirers, but true love came to her only years later. In the most difficult moments, she could count on the support of her older brother Emilian. For a long time she couldn’t come to terms with his death and the void he left behind.

Before she decided to pursue acting professionally, her brother, who was three years older than her, was already well on his way to a career. She has always treated him as an authority and role model. He was the one who took it upon himself to support the family when their father decided to leave. – He studied and at the same time worked for the house, he managed to bear this burden, although it was not easy – she said about him, adding that he was 17 years old at the time. She was impressed by his wisdom and approach to life, so when he suggested that she should give up her engineering studies and follow in his footsteps, she did not hesitate for a moment. – We’ve always been friends. We shared a room together, where we told each other fairy tales at night and made up various stories. He was a bit sorry that I wasn’t a boy, because he always wanted to have a brother, she said in one of the interviews.

She got into the Warsaw theater school without any difficulties and already in her first year of studies she made her screen debut in Krzysztof Zanussi’s “Protective Colors”, causing a huge stir among critics. Quite quickly, she began to receive further offers, such as the series “Home” and . The breakthrough in her career was undoubtedly the comedy “Karate po polsku”, after which, thanks to her full negligee, she was labeled a film sex bomb. She perpetuated it by later performing, among others, in or “What Tigers Like”. – An actor’s body is part of the work – she explained.

Although she dreamed of playing women with character and feistiness, she was rarely able to do so. To this day, she still considers the character of Danuta Mayer in the soap opera to be one of her best roles, although she was not perceived well by her professional friends. However, she was not going to worry about it and worked persistently for her success. She combined her appearances in front of the camera with work in the theater. The most famous performances with her participation include the title role in “Tamara”, the first capitalist play, staged in 1990 at the Studio Theater. Ultimately, loud and controversial roles did not bring her the expected recognition. So she abandoned acting in favor of journalism, hosting programs such as “Oskar” on Polsat or programs about cinema on Radio One. After a break of several years, she returned to her profession, and the audience welcomed her with enthusiasm. Some of her best acting roles can be admired in “The Witcher”, “Crime Wave” and the film “Welts”, for which she was nominated for the Polish Film Academy Award.

Kamińska’s private life was once as stormy as her career. Although she definitely could not complain about success with men, the relationships she established had little to do with true love. – I was inexperienced, I didn’t know life or my husband. We started getting to know each other after the wedding, she said, which quickly ended in divorce. For the second time, she was married to gynecologist Zbigniew Chaciński. Their relationship lasted 14 years and ended when the man began to abuse alcohol. She healed her broken heart in the arms of Waldemar Dąbrowski, but he treated her only as a fleeting adventure and after only a month he decided to leave her and return to his wife.

Jacek Borkowski was supposed to restore her faith. He was married when they started dating, but he claimed that his marriage existed only on paper. She trusted him, they even planned a future together, and then the scenario from years ago repeated itself. From then on, she closed herself off to men and didn’t want to let them into her life. – A wedding is not necessary to build a good relationship. If people want to be together, they will be, she said. It was only in 2003 that journalist Piotr Pajdowski appeared at her side, with whom she created the relationship she had always dreamed of. He was the one who supported her after her death, and before her parents’ death. – The last five years have not spoiled me. I lost all the people closest to me, my mother, father and brother.
