When traveling on vacation, some people are afraid that an accident will occur. Statistically, we are in much greater danger when driving a car on the ground. It is also worth remembering that airlines apply many prohibitions and orders that actually increase the safety of passengers on board. What about beards on pilots’ faces? Can they have it?
Can a pilot have a beard? This is about the safety of all passengers
Many men choose it because they feel better and look more handsome. However, it turns out that in the case of pilots, the matter is not always simple and some airlines explicitly prohibit them from wearing them on their faces. Why? Everything translates into the issue of safety.
According to the website Fakt.pl, the probability that you will meet a pilot with thick facial hair is slim. This is because when there is a sudden drop in pressure and the plane descends, passengers should quickly put on oxygen masks that fall out of the compartments. If the pilot has a beard, it may not fit properly to the face, so the body will not receive the appropriate amount of oxygen and the person will faint quickly. Of course, the passenger may have facial hair because he will hold the mask with his hands, but the pilot will not do this.

Airlines make exceptions. However, other rules still apply
Today, some airlines allow pilots to have slight facial hair. For example, in 2022 it was reported that British Airways pilots were allowed to do so. – We are proud of all our colleagues at British Airways and are committed to an inclusive working environment. “We have worked with our employees to create updated dress, grooming and accessory guidelines, enabling our employees to bring their best, most authentic selves to work every day,” CNN said in a statement.
