The Central Statistical Office published a report in which it indicated the most noisy cities in Poland. Contrary to appearances, the podium was not taken by the biggest ones. The results are surprising. Where is the noisiest place?

According to data based on the Central Statistical Office, as many as 282.8 thousand people from Polish cities where over 100 thousand people live. residents are exposed to excessive noise. It is estimated that in Europe alone the problem affects up to 20 percent. population. Where is it the loudest in our country?

How is noise measured in cities? Four types of sounds are taken into account

As the authors of the report point out, noise pollution is one of the main phenomena that directly affects both the health and well-being of European residents. Of course, we are talking about its negative impact. The Central Statistical Office report took into account 4 types of noise that were exceeded, more precisely:

  • road,
  • industrial,
  • rail,
  • air.

It is worth knowing that measuring the noise level in cities with over 100,000 inhabitants residents are monitored using the LDWN indicator, which analyzes “irritating” sounds both during the day, in the evening and at night. In addition, the LN index is also used to help determine sleep disturbances.

It is the noisiest city in Poland. It’s not about Warsaw at all

According to estimates, it is as much as 10.2 percent. Chorzów took second place (8.2%), and Szczecin third (7.9%). Which cities were ranked next?

The title of the quietest cities during the day goes to: Toruń, Dąbrowa Górnicza and Olsztyn, where less than 0.05 percent people are exposed to irritating sounds.
