Majewska works despite retirement. The benefit would not be enough for the first one

During a conference organized before the National Festival of Polish Song in Opole, Alicja Majewska commented on her statement from four years ago. The artist then admitted that she received a pension of slightly more than PLN 1,000 a month.

Four years ago, Alicja Majewska celebrated the 45th anniversary of her stage career. However, the coronavirus pandemic forced her to cancel about 30 concerts, as reported by “Super Express”. In an interview with the website, the artist admitted that her pension is not sufficient to cover living costs. “I have been carrying a green ID in my wallet for many years, but my account receives just over PLN 1,000 of pension,” said the 72-year-old singer at the time.

Alicja Majewska’s confession caused a stir in the media, and the artist herself swore that a low pension was not synonymous with a difficult financial situation. Although the singer turned 76 this year, she is still actively involved in cultural life – she gives concerts and performs at music events. Majewska also received an invitation to participate in the 61st National Polish Song Festival in Opole 2024, where other stage stars will also perform: Lady Pank, Wilki, Kasia Kowalska and Zalewski.

Alicja Majewska about retirement and earnings

During the press conference organized before the event, the singer commented on her statement from four years ago. “I have no right to complain because I still work actively and earn a lot, I really do,” the singer told journalists. Although she has no reason to worry herself, Majewska sympathizes with anyone who finds themselves in a financial stalemate due to a low pension. “I feel sorry for my colleagues from the industry and all of you who have low pensions. I feel very sorry for you, because I know what life is like – pay raises and so on,” she added.
