She delayed the divorce for a long time. She lived with her next husband for 54 years

Before Alina Janowska found happiness with Wojciech Zabłocki, her love life was full of turbulent moments. The legendary actress was surrounded by many lovers, but she chose architect Andrzej Borecki as her first husband. He was infatuated with the artist even before they met.

She delayed the divorce for several years. When she finally decided, she met the love of her life

Janowska learned from Tadeusz Konwicki that she had a secret admirer. “You have mercy. I have a friend who is in love with you. He is a good man, he is an architect. He has lung disease and is so lonely and unhappy. You take an interest in him,” her friend allegedly told her. Borecki sat in the audience during subsequent performances with the actress’s participation, until he finally took the first step – he offered to take her home. After that situation, feelings blossomed between Janowska and the young architect. The couple married on March 24, 1954.

Initially, the relationship between them was exemplary. The actress perceived her husband as an ambitious and sensitive man. However, after some time it turned out that he could not cope with the hardships of everyday life. The actress complained that at one point the maintenance of her home and family was solely on her shoulders. A few months later, Janowska had to face a personal drama – the loss of her unborn child. It was then that she realized that she could not count on her husband’s support.

For the next three years, she wondered whether her relationship with Borecki made any sense. “After three years of such consideration, Andrzej and I decided to try, and on December 11, 1957, Agatka was born,” the actress recalled in the biography “I am Alina…”. After the birth of her daughter, the crisis in Janowska’s marriage only increased. According to the actress, Borecki preferred to spend time away from home in the company of friends rather than engage in family life.

The marriage finally broke up after seven years in 1960. The discrepancy in the interests of both parties was so striking that it left no doubt even to the court deciding on the divorce. Breaking up with her ex-husband brought some benefits to Alina Janowska – just three years later, the actress got involved with Wojciech Zabłocki, a Polish saber player and Olympic champion. Initially, it was Janowska who showed greater interest in the man who kept a certain distance from her. He refused even when she asked him out on a date.

The meeting finally took place in Zabłocki’s apartment. It was there that feelings arose between them. Zabłocki, however, was not willing to take the next step. Janowska suggested the engagement to him. “I didn’t have a ring, so I took Alina to the meadow, picked some flowers, proposed and was accepted. From that moment on, my wife took full command of our relationship,” he explained in an interview for Onet. Janowska and Zabłocki were married for 54 years. They had two children: Michał and Katarzyna. The spouses were buried together in the Avenue of Merit at the Powązki Military Cemetery in Warsaw.
