The Act on the temporary limitation of prices for electricity, natural gas and district heating and on the energy voucher will come into force on July 1, 2024. After prices and the market situation stabilized, the government decided to gradually unfreeze energy prices. This causes great fear of significant increases. And fraudsters use them for their own purposes.

Unfreezing energy prices and temporarily limiting them from July 1, 2024 are used for disinformation and to extort data. Therefore, the Ministry of Climate and Environment warns against clicking on the links “how to avoid increases in gas//heat prices”.
Clicking on unverified links and false information about how to avoid drastic price increases is one of the ways of phishing, fraud and disinformation activities aimed at causing panic.
– explains the ministry. Before clicking on any link, it is worth considering whether the title intended to cause anxiety does not contain any suspicious content. The ministry also reminds that solutions designed to protect individual recipients and public institutions such as nurseries and hospitals operate automatically and without the need to submit applications. An application for an energy voucher will only be available from August 1, 2024 at the commune office or social welfare center.

The act sets the maximum energy price, which will apply from July 1. In the case of households, it is PLN 500 per megawatt hour regardless of electricity consumption. From August 1, it will be possible to submit applications for a one-off benefit, i.e. it will range from PLN 300 (for single-person households) to PLN 600 (for six-person and larger households).
