On June 1, Janusz Rewiński – actor, satirist, politician and member of the Sejm of the first term – died at the age of 74. Information about the artist’s death was announced by his son Jonasz via social media. “A farewell that was not supposed to happen. On June 1, my father fought against his health. Unfortunately, this time he couldn’t cope,” he informed on the X website. Janusz Rewiński had been in contact with another famous actor – Tadeusz Drozdha – for many years. The artists jointly hosted the program “Dyżurny satyryk kraj”, broadcast on Polsat in the years 1995-2001.
Drozda was friends with Rewiński. This is how he remembers the old days
In an interview with Plotek, Tadeusz Drozda talked about how their cooperation went: “We just threw slogans at each other. The camera started and the program recorded itself. We traveled across Poland on stages, so we knew each other like bald horses.” For some time, the actors lived close to each other. Later, Janusz Rewiński moved to the countryside, where he bought an old mill. The actor withdrew from public life and seemed happy with it. “I visited him at his mill. He didn’t invite guests from the stage on purpose. It was his oasis. We sat by the pond where he kept fish and enjoyed the silence and nature, because it was beautiful there. He liked it very much” – he added in a conversation with Plotek.
Although the actors’ life paths diverged years ago, Drozda warmly remembers the period when they were close. Even though they exchanged a few bitter words more than once, they always reached an agreement. “He was a bit quarrelsome, but rather towards other people and it didn’t bother me. Once, after a month-long tour, we were sitting around after three performances in one day and Janusz said: ‘Tadek, I don’t know how it happens, but we play at least twice a month. a day and we never quarreled once,” recalls Tadeusz Drozda in a conversation with Plotek.
Janusz Rewiński started his acting career while studying. He then performed in “Spotkania z Ballada” and Piwnica pod Baranami. A little later, he also joined the Tej cabaret, where he played alongside Zenon Laskowik. He has had many respected roles in productions such as “The Travels of Mr. Kleks” and “The Changelings”.
