Rodowicz on dismissal from TVP and Opole: I have the impression that it is more political than ever

Maryla Rodowicz spoke about her dismissal from TVP and the lack of an invitation to the festival in Opole. She accuses politicization and says how inelegantly she was treated.

Maryla Rodowicz has appeared regularly on TVP for many years, both in entertainment programs and during performances at various music events. For the last three years, she has been a juror in the popular program “The Voice Senior”. She won the audience’s sympathy thanks to her charisma and experience. It was recently announced that the next edition will take place without the participation of the legendary singer.

Behind the scenes of the end of cooperation with TVP

In an interview with “Fakt” Maryla Rodowicz revealed what happened behind the scenes termination of cooperation with TVP. An artist by decision of the station.

I participated in three editions, but this is probably our specificity, because in American editions artists are sometimes featured a dozen or so times. There are no such frequent changes there, but maybe in our case it is related to the change of power and TVP presidents who simply have a different idea.

Rodowicz, however, is more so outraged by the way she was informed about the end of cooperation. She points out that his behavior towards her was inelegant. She described the entire incident in an interview:

I was sent home flowers and a printed card. They didn’t even bother to sign it by hand. The note said they were grateful for my energy. In a word, not very elegant. Of course, it’s a matter of culture, because you could have at least called.

No invitation to the festival in Opole

Earlier, the director of the National Festival of Polish Song in Opole explained the decision not to invite Rodowicz. The author of such hits as “Ale to jest jest” or “Małgośka, shame on tears” also commented on the lack of an invitation to this year’s edition of the festival in Opole. She stressed that she has no resentment about this decision, but for the first time she feels that the situation is more political than ever before.

I don’t have any regrets, but for the first time I feel like it’s more political than ever. For me, Opole has never been political, I sang for Gierek, for Gomułka, and now I am “be”. Or what? Because I sang during the past government? So now I’m excluded? Let it be, but I like Opole and I will watch it, I am curious about both the arrangement and the stars’ performances.
